Triangulation: The Brew

Ayahuasca as a triple phenomenon: The Brew

Investigations and experiences demonstrate the variability of the brew in its chemical composition. Factors dependent on the plants and place of origin, the time of harvest, the preparation (relative quantity of the two plants, degree of refinement and type of water used — factors such as the pH and mineral content of the water), influence the quality of the brew and its effects. The quantity used during a ceremony is also a decisive factor. Habitual, moderate quantities allow for a better observation of one's own contents, a detailed study of one's own psychodynamics. Larger quantities are necessary to 'travel in the astral', in the language of users of some sects. The use of larger quantities of brew, in a single drink, is best taken in a specific, more reserved environment, with adequate supervision. Strong experiences favor the type of experiences described in phenomenology and religiosity as 'mystical experiences'; with adequate practice and considerable inner work, it is possible to reach the same results with smaller dosages.
